Fukuchishi, a noble descendant of Taira Kiyomori, defected to Oda Nobunaga in the Second Tensei Iga War in Tensei’s 9th year (1581), and thereby became powerful. However, in the next year, when Oda Nobunaga was avenged in the Honnoji War, his situation changed quickly as the people of Iga were attacked and the land fell in to other hands. In the main building of Fukuchi Castle, a 3-5 meter mound and empty moat remain.
